Cars differ based on their torque, or their power produced by the engine. Some vehicles have torque that is sent to the front (front wheel drive), the rear (rear wheel drive) or the front and the rear (four-wheel drive). It is also quite possible that your four-wheel drive vehicle contains two driveshaft’s. The driveshaft is the component that is responsible for transferring this power in your vehicle. It is absolutely vital that your driveshaft is in tip top shape.

- If your vehicle is lifted or lowered, your driveshaft is especially prone to damages due to the exposure of the driveshaft to possible damaging factors (weather, pavement etc.)
- At the time of service, it is critical that all of the other components in your vehicle are properly checked. Your auto technicians should also always make sure to see that the U-joints in your vehicle are properly lubricated for optimal performance.
- Rather than replacing one component, it could be most cost efficient for you to replace the entire driveshaft. Of course, this depends on your vehicle make and model as well.
- Many Four-wheel drive vehicles are equipped with two driveshaft’s. Much of the time it is not necessary to replace both of the driveshafts.
How the Driveshaft is Replaced
